The young Latvian pianist Daumants Liepiņš, winner of Vendome prize at the Verbier Festival in 2019, is one of the most promising pianists of his generation.
He has already established himself as one of the leading musicians of his country. In 2017, Daumants won the Grand Prix of the Lielā Mūzikas Balva (Latvian National Grand Music Award) in the Young Artist of the Year category, which is the most prestigious award for a classical musician in Latvia.
He is the 1st prize winner of Maria Canals International Piano Competition and the Nordic Piano Competition. He is also laureate of the top prizes of the George Enescu and James Mottram piano competitions as well as the Tbilisi International Piano Competition, where he received the Special Prize for Artistry.
Besides regular solo performances in different parts of the world, Daumants has performed with several symphony orchestras, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Romanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra and the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra.
His future engagements among others include debut recitals in major festivals like the Verbier Festival, the Riga Jurmala Music Festival and the Georges Enescu Festival; recordings on Steinway, Naxos and other labels; orchestra tours with major Spanish orchestras and a season-opening concert with Latvian National Symphony Orchestra.
Currently Daumants is studying at the Ingesund School of Music/Karlstad University in Sweden with Prof. Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist.
