David Burke was appointed as the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Chief Executive in June 2020 following 11 successful years as the Orchestra’s General Manager and Finance Director. During his first covid-struck year David has overseen the Orchestra transform its season into a series of 26-concerts created specifically for a film, distributed on Marquee.tv, dramatically increase its social media presence, and deliver specifically targeted campaigns such as the acclaimed Lean in and Listen series promoting Orchestral music and wellbeing to new audiences via Instagram.
David was awarded a BA in Management and Music from the University of London by special consent – the first of its kind – and an MBA from the Open University. He is a Visiting Lecturer in Orchestral Management at Danube University in Krems, Austria, and has guest-lectured at Royal Holloway University of London and the University of East Anglia.
