Riga Jurmala Music Festival Opens Third Weekend with “Musical Soirée with Ekselence” at Kronvalda Park

The continuation and third weekend of the Rīga Jūrmala Festival, with concerts taking place between August 27th and 29th at Dzintari Concert Hall in Jūrmala and the Great Guild Hall, opens next Thursday, August 26th at Riga’s Kronvalda Park between 7:30 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., with music lovers’ favourite, Musical Soiree with Ekselence. The event is free, and tickets must be reserved in advance at tickets.riga-jurmala.com/2021.

In collaboration with Latvijas Radio 3 Klasika and Ekselence gourmet ice cream, visitors to the Musical Soiree will be able to hear Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor Op. 37, and Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 in E Major, WAB 107. Both pieces will be performed during the Festival by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conductor Daniel Harding and pianist Yefim Bronfman.

As usual, lovers of classical music and gourmet food will be treated by our partner and friend Food Union to this summer’s debutantes: two Ekselence ice creams in small waffle cones, one filled with a light, creamy mango ice cream, and the other filled with forest berry sorbet.

However, this time, Musical Soiree guests will have one more treat. In an update to the traditions begun in the first season of the Festival, Ekselence Music Club musicologist and cultural journalist Edgars Raginskis will introduce the evening programme, revealing interesting nuances and facts about the pieces being performed.

As always, the Festival’s restaurant partner Barents, in collaboration with Balticovo, will be providing delicious picnics for sale during the evening. Meanwhile, our friends Amber Beverage group will provide refreshing drinks throughout the event.

Musical Soiree with Ekselence is free, and tickets must be reserved HERE.
