The festival’s Musical Soirées continue with the music of Chopin in Kronvalds Park!

The next Musical Soirée of the Riga Jurmala Music Festival takes place on the evening of August 7 from 7.30 till 9.30 p.m. in Kronvalds Park, Riga. Concurrently with Mikhail Pletnev’s concert at Dzintari Concert Hall, the audience will hear the Impromptu No. 3 in G-flat major, op. 51; 13 Mazurkas and the Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, op. 58 by Frédéric Chopin.

“This summer we are continuing the series of musical evenings, or soirées, that we launched last summer, and we are thrilled by the great interest people have shown in it. The main goal of these evenings is to let everyone, including inexperienced classical music listeners, become acquainted with the festival programme through a different kind of listening experience – in an informal environment in a park, while enjoying a relaxing picnic,” says Zane Čulkstēna, the Executive director of the Riga Jurmala Music Festival.

“The Musical Soirée in Kronvalds Park will be special in that it will feature works by Chopin that festival-goers will be hearing at the same time performed by the eminent Russian pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev at Dzintari Concert Hall.”
