The third weekend of the RĪGA JŪRMALA Music Festival will be opened by pianist Jan Lisiecki, who was named by the Gramophone magazine as the 2013 Young Artist of the Year. Music critics have called him a “child prodigy”, later “genius” and “the modern Mozart”. The musician himself perceived this as an unnecessary burden on such a young artist, creating needless, even harmful psychological pressure. But his achievements outperform even the press’ adulation – unmatched, individually bright interpretations, and a personal charisma which has opened the doors to almost all of the world’s major concert halls.
