Young Latvian Talents Daniil Bulayev, Sabīne Sergejeva and Andrejs Jegorovs to Perform in Online Masterclass with French Violinist Renaud Capuçon

On December 16th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., talented Latvian violinists Daniil Bulayev, Sabīne Sergejeva and Andrejs Jegorovs will perform in an online masterclass with famous French violinist Renaud Capuçon as part of the Rīga Jūrmala Academy. French violinist Renaud Capuçon is a soloist and chamber musician who has earned international fame. He is known and loved for his balance, depth of tone and virtuosity, and he has collaborated with the world’s most famous orchestras, musicians, concert halls and festivals. Renaud Capuçon has the highest reputation as a soloist. He has performed with top-level orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Filarmonica della Scala, the London Symphony Orchestra and many others. In summer 2021, Capuçon will perform at the Rīga Jūrmala Festival with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Yuri Temirkanov. The participants of the masterclass are all violinists. Andrejs Jegorovs (Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, class of assoc. prof. T. Zīberte-Ijaba’s) will perform J.S. Bach’s Sonata No. 3 for solo violin, BWV 1005: Adagio and Fugue, Daniil Bulayev (Emīls Dārziņš Music Secondary School, class of N. Sarkisjana, accompanist M. Taņičev) will perform L. van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 7, op. 30 no. 2, while Sabīne Sergejeva, who is currently studying the violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with prof. D. Takeno (accompanist A. Suhanova) will perform R. Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2, op.121: Part 1 - Ziemlich langsam-Lebhaf.

“This year will close with a masterclass led by Renaud Capuçon, who is not just a master of the violin, but also a charismatic personality who has plenty to teach,” explains Toms Ostrovskis, Associate Professor with the Piano Department of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and Head of the Rīga Jūrmala Academy. “We are also excited for the new year, which we will kick off with a first for the Academy: vocal masterclasses.”

The 2021 season of the Rīga Jūrmala Festival has already featured masterclasses with Lionel Cottet, principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Omar Tomassoni, principal trumpet player of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. It has been confirmed that the next masterclasses, in January 2021, will be with mezzo-soprano Alice Coote and baritone Benjamin Appl, who performed in Jūrmala in summer 2019.
