Marc Bouchkov

“Curious, inventive, mischievous and drunk with freedom, […] an incredible ability to defy the laws of gravity.”
(Diapason)

Marc Bouchkov’s artistry is driven by expression. The closeness of the violin’s sound to the singing human voice is his main inspiration to bring emotions and images as close as possible to his audience.

After winning the silver medal in the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition, the highlights of the 2019/20 season include performances with Maestro Valery Gergiev and the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, and the Hessische Rundfunk orchestra and Stanislav Kochanovsky. Very exciting recitals in prestigious halls such as the Carnegie Hall New York, Wigmore hall London, Dresden Frauenkirche, Concert hall of St Petersburg. Marc plays in duo with Dimitri Masleev, Alexandre Kantorow, Martin Stadtfeld and Filippo Gorini.

Marc’s first recording by Harmonia Mundi included world premiere pieces of Ysaye which he discovered together with the Royal Library of Brussels, and pieces that he composed himself as a tribute to the Belgian Maitre.

Marc Bouchkov’s artistic development has been marked by numerous international awards. He is first prize winner of the highly-regarded “International Violin Contest Henri Koch” and the “Montreal International Musical Competiton”. Recently Marc has been honored with the music prize of the Kulturstiftung Dortmund.

Bouchkov has collaborated with conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Mariss Jansons, Michael Sanderling, Andrey Boreyko, Christian Arming, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Lionel Bringuier, Maxim Vengerov, as well as orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI in Turin, the NDR-Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie.
