The Riga Jurmala Musical Soirées are a unique event concept which allow listeners to get to know classical music from a different perspective. Over the course of the evening, the event location will transform into a vibrant, resonant picnic offering two meditative hours accompanied by classical music. The event scenographer is Latvian artist Krišs Salmanis.
The continuation and third weekend of the Rīga Jūrmala Festival, with concerts taking place between August 27th and 29th at Dzintari Concert Hall in Jūrmala and the Great Guild Hall, opens next Thursday, August 26th at Riga’s Kronvalda Park between 7:30 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., with music lovers’ favourite, Musical Soiree with Ekselence.
As usual, lovers of classical music and gourmet food will be treated by our partner and friend Food Union to this summer’s debutantes: two Ekselence ice creams in small waffle cones, one filled with a light, creamy mango ice cream, and the other filled with forest berry sorbet.
However, this time, Musical Soiree guests will have one more treat. In an update to the traditions begun in the first season of the Festival, Ekselence Music Club musicologist and cultural journalist Edgars Raginskis will introduce the evening programme, revealing interesting nuances and facts about the pieces being performed.
As always, the Festival’s restaurant partner Barents, in collaboration with Balticovo, will be providing delicious picnics for sale during the evening. Meanwhile, our friends Amber Beverage group will provide refreshing drinks throughout the event.

Entry to the events is free, with a limited number of places and compulsory pre-registration.
Visitors will be invited to come with their own picnic baskets and a blanket to sit on. We will also take care of a limited number of loungers for the visitors who will register their participation on a timely manner. We also invite you to choose appropriate outdoor picnic clothing.
To ensure we can comply with all health and safety requirements, entry to the event will only be with a digital COVID-19 certificate proving vaccination against or recent recovery from the illness.
